DC Cross Flow Fans

DC Cross Flow Fans

Mechatronics DC Cross Flow fans (also known as tangential fans or cross flow blowers) produce a laminar airflow and allow for horizontal or vertical mounting. Options include either right-hand or left-hand motor configurations, PWM speed control, tachometer, alarm feedback, and environmental protection options.

DC cross flow fans, also known as tangential or transverse fans, use a direct current (DC) to generate airflow across a long, cylindrical fan impeller. Unlike traditional axial or radial fans, cross flow fans draw air across the fan’s entire length, creating a uniform airflow pattern with minimal turbulence.

Key Features

Tangential Airflow: Smooth, laminar flow of air perpendicular to the fan’s length. Ideal for applications requiring even airflow distribution.
DC Motor Efficiency: With a DC motor, cross flow fans benefit from better energy efficiency, quieter operation, and finer speed control, often adjustable via Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). They are also more compact compared to AC motor-driven fans, making them suitable for restricted spaces.
Impeller Design: The fan impeller consists of many small, evenly spaced blades, forming a cylindrical shape. Air enters the fan at one side of the cylinder and exits on the opposite side, creating an extended “sheet” of airflow.
Compact Design: Cross flow fans tend to be slim and long, making them ideal for tight spaces, such as in appliances, HVAC units, or electronic enclosures.

Common Applications

HVAC Systems: Cross flow fans provide uniform airflow across heating or cooling elements, improving thermal efficiency.
Electronics and Appliances: They are used in ovens, projectors, air curtains, and photocopiers to cool or ventilate components quietly and evenly.
Automotive and Industrial: Used in dashboards, instrument panels, or industrial control cabinets where low-profile and targeted cooling is essential.

Overall, DC cross flow fans are preferred for applications requiring precise airflow control, quiet operation, and compact installation without sacrificing cooling performance.
